AFDAN’s medical team conducted critical assessments and screenings for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in Beledweyne. Over 2,000 therapeutic food packets were distributed to more than 100 beneficiaries, significantly improving their health. This initiative is part of AFDAN’s ongoing commitment to addressing malnutrition, with the organization having visited camps in Beledweyne over ten times to provide medical check-ups and treatments.
Led by Dr. Yahye Abdullahi Esse, AFDAN’s health department head, the team’s work continues to have a profound impact on the well-being of vulnerable communities. Despite the progress made, more support is needed to tackle the scale of malnutrition and health challenges in Somalia.
AFDAN’s efforts highlight the importance of both immediate medical care and long-term health awareness. Through collaborations with donors and organizations, AFDAN aims to expand its reach and strengthen sustainable healthcare in regions like Beledweyne, where access to services is limited. These initiatives not only save lives but also empower communities to combat health issues, paving the way for a healthier, more resilient future.
