AFDAN organization is a local NGO, Non-profit and Non-political, was formed in July 2019. AFDAN (African Development Action Network) is a women and minority-led organization committed to empowering marginalized communities through a wide range of impactful programs. Our work is rooted in collaboration, resilience, and innovation, addressing immediate needs while building long-term solutions for vulnerable populations.

Enhancing access to safe water and sanitation through community-based solutions, ensuring healthier lives and environments.
Tackling hunger and food scarcity through sustainable agricultural practices like the Bilan Greenhouse project, empowering women to grow food, feed their families, and sell surplus produce in markets.
Standing up for the rights of the most vulnerable, including women and children affected by gender-based violence (GBV). AFDAN offers support services and advocates for the protection and rights of those at risk or impacted by violence.
Providing immediate relief to displaced populations by offering safe shelter and essential non-food items, fostering security and dignity. We help in distribution of essential supplies and shelter kits.
AFDAN is committed to fostering peaceful and resilient communities through dialogue, conflict mediation, and reconciliation initiatives. We engage local leaders, youth, and women in peace-building efforts, promoting social cohesion and addressing the root causes of conflict.

Food
AFDAN, in collaboration with UN agencies, SIDA, and WFP, undertook a project focused on community mobilization and joint assessment in the IDP camps.
AFDAN conducted sustainable agricultural training for the marginalized local farmers and their communities.
In Bula Burte, AFDAN collaborated with WASH Cluster Somali & UNICEF to distribute hygiene kits to 1,000 households.
AFDAN, in collaboration with various humanitarian agencies and UN OCHA, conducted a comprehensive flood assessment in Belet Weyne.
Shelter
AFDAN initiated a project to provide Emergency Shelter Kits for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The primary objective was to offer immediate relief and support to those affected by crises.
